Girls Gone Wild Crew in Blacksburg???

The Womens Center has received calls of concern regarding the scheduled Girls Gone Wild party being hosted on April 20 at Oge-Chis, a bar/restaurant in downtown Blacksburg. Reportedly, Girls Gone Wild a party-hosting and soft pornography business, hosts parties in towns and cities across the U.S., gives out free drinks and then takes advantage of intoxicated females by filming them flashing or doing girl on girl sexual activities.
 
The Womens Center staff and members of our communities share the concern regarding the harm that could come to VT students and Blacksburg High School students who might consider attending or participating in this event/party and not realize the degree to which these Girls Gone Wild parties have resulted in emotional and physical injury.  Not only are young women plied with alcohol and coerced into exposing themselves and engaging in sexual activities, but women are later reporting being raped at or after these events. The individual behind Girls Gone Wild is Joe Francis who reportedly makes 29 million dollars a year by hosting these parties and other events during which women are video taped and/or photographed. Francis does not compensate women whose images he uses to promote the sales of these videos and photographs to the pornography industry.  A woman who is filmed may get a T-shirt for her efforts, and not much else, except the loss of control of any right to photos or images of her body. I have attached a link to an article from the LA Times that gives you a sense of some of what report happening to them when they attend or associate themselves with these activities.
 
University and local community folks have expressed interest in identifying ways to educate the campus and surrounding communities about the dangers of Girls Gone Wild.  Please share information about these parties and Girls Gone Wild with women and men students, faculty, and staff and discuss the potential risks. Encourage students, and others, to speak out against the exploitation and violence against women that Girls Gone Wild promotes.  Below are some talking points that can be used for educating people.

• Girls Gone Wild films more than women flashing their breasts.
• Unlike regular porn where a woman is paid, in Girls Gone Wild the founder Joe Francis makes $29 million a year and the girl gets a T-shirt.
• They host parties with free alcohol and coax drunken women to flash the camera or engage in sexual activity for the camera.
• There have been reports of rapes at Girls Gone Wild functions
• Once the girls are filmed they have no rights in terms of what happens to that tape.
• There are serious implications for womens professional and personal futures as they have no control over what happens to the videos.

ECBR was awesomee!!! I was seriously tipsy/drunk all weekend but not too drunk to not remember anything....hahah...hopefully??  

Road tripping with our lambdas was quite an amusing experience...hahah at least they kept me entertained.

Thank god I didnt have to drive hahahah.. seniority mann  the only thing good about being old haha ...

OO and i luv it when we get special treatments...hahahah ... like I was Just about to compalin about how long the line is when we were waiting outside the club on friday night and freezing our azz off... the club ppl came and told us that girls get to go in first..i was like YES!! lol .. and even better, I got bracelets for both nights even though I had my real Id. the bouncer just looked at me and put the bracelet on my wrist

Cant believe it's been a year already.....actually last ECBR was pretty fun too ...except this time i got to see some striper boobies like literally almost in my face....OMG hahah thank god I was drunk....I think the only thing i was thinking in my head then was "daynmm those are soo white!" lol maybe it was because the three of them were the only white ppl in the club.

Met soooo many ppl this weekend...think I was like everywhere .... and then by the end of the night everyone started to look the same. i think at one point I walked into this random room thought it was mine and was ready to climb into the bed and pass out...lol thank god desperado dragged me out in time.....  

too bad we didnt get to take much pictures.....well if u want to see some go check out facebook..except mine's temp. down right now lol....and i really wouldnt be surprised if my face pops up in some random ppl's picture.

mann everything would've been perfect if i didnt lose 20 bucks and my fav. lip gloss... GRR

ah well, mad propz to our lambdas for driving and bing lambdas/akdphis for hosting such an awesome weekendd!!
